Welcome
Welcome to the Lupus Awareness Virtual Art Gallery.

The Lupus Awareness Virtual Art Gallery was created in 2010 for World Lupus Day as a way for people from around the world to do something creative and collaborative in an effort to raise Lupus awareness. The first phase of the site was created a few short weeks before World Lupus Day (May 10). A call went out for people to create something for the gallery: songs, poems, stories, crafts, art, photographs, whatever the individual could think of. Then on May 9, the site went into a cocoon phase and re-emerged on May 10 as an art gallery dedicated to those who suffer from Lupus, their families and friends. Read more about the project and its inspiration here.
Despite the short notice, many wonderful projects were submitted. The Lupus Awareness Virtual Art Gallery will now be updated twice a year. Once in May for World Lupus Day and then again throughout October for Lupus Awareness Month. Please take the time to browse the gallery. You will find pictures and videos, music free for download, miscellaneous projects, and some stories and poetry.
The following links should help get you started:
Music | Videos | 1000 Paper Butterflies | Butterfly Kisses | Stories | Poetry | Butterfly Curtains | Misc | Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds | Incognito No More |
Hopefully, this gallery will continue to grow throughout the years. Submission deadline for World Lupus Day 2011 has already ended. However, if you would like to submit something for World Lupus Awareness Month throughout October 2011, please do so by emailing lupus@juliasherred.com. Deadline for submissions is October 28, 2011 at Midnight PT. A list of projects can be found below.
World Lupus Day was started in 2004 to coincide with the 7th International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Related Conditions.
