Hi my names Rosa and ijust been diagnosed with Lupus yesterday, iused to talk about it like it was nothing serious but i did more research and come to find out ima be sick alot like i was, my mom and sister used to tell me that i complained alot about being sick. little did they know ihave a life changing diease. and just like you istay in bed and never go out, having lupus dose make you abnormal. but im tryna my hardest to let my faamily and friends be aware about lupus! and i said the samething you did, if i told them ihad cancer they would show more concern about my health and life.

This is a cool piece. The butterflies have a tension between freedom and confinement. The lines on the frame could be spider’s webs, trapping the butterflies. But there is the purple butterfly, in the upper right corner, that is breaking free of the frame! I can honestly say that it’s the most I’ve ever thought about the meanings of a crochet.

I have suffered the symptoms of lupus for nearly 12 years. I had a biopsy done 12 years ago which was inconclusive, a further biopsy done 2 months ago shows that I am negative for dle or sle. But, I have been diagnosed as suffering from Jessner’s disease, this explains some of the symptoms but not all, it certainly does not explain the fatigue and constant pain that I feel. I am really looking forward to reading this book in a hope that I will be able to gain a clearer prospective on this ailment and ways to cope with it on a daily basis

Hi Julia!
It’s wonderful to see an option for us right-brained types to explore the creativity that lupus can inspire in us. We are often so overwhelmed with the left-brained, techinical and structural things that managing illness can require that we forget to feed our spirits…or refuel them. Thank you for offering up this opportunity.

I’ve been trying to get people to jump in with more visual and creative methods of coping all year. First one being along the lines of a “wordless Wednesday” caption entries and my latest one was inspired by Saul Steinberg’s word using paper bags. Some people prefer the anonymity that the bags offer…I hope it simply gives them a chance to reflect their lupus with a little more input into how they want to share their experiences with others.
